In 2019, Candace came to New York from L.A. for the New York Metropolitan Open, and we caught up over lunch at the Africa Center in East Harlem. At the time, she was developing a reality television show about backgammon. She interviewed me and several others about our backgammon journies to submit to producers. Before submitting to producers, she shared the preliminary footage of me with the rest of her team, and a few responded by saying: “I love this strong black woman and her triumphs.” “Of all the people, she is the one I would most like to get to know.” “I wanna see the Ferrari!”
